Smoke Signals

School is out but Lee College’s graphic design is kicking into high gear.

Our client, Lee College, asked us to design a recruitment magazine, called “NEXT”, for high school students and graduating seniors. The design needed to resonate and be appropriate to an audience of young adults.

The articles in the magazine gave a personal insight into the Lee College experience. They highlighted how Lee College can give prospective students a great start in an exciting career at an affordable price. The magazine needed to be eye-catching and geared towards young readers as well as be informative.

Each article needed its own “look and feel” to make the stories unique. Custom photography and colorful graphics made each spread personal and engaging. The idea of “starting college” needed to become exciting and obtainable.

Given that the target audience for the brochure is high school students, we wanted the layout to be fresh, modern and relatable.  The articles feature real students and their experiences. The overall message is that college is a great next step that can be enlightening and fun.

The end result was a publication that speaks directly to young adults who may be wondering what’s next for them after high school. It is a series of stories and tips that makes the idea of college life at Lee College more exciting and less daunting.

The magazine was a finalist in this year’s Crystal Awards. The Crystal Awards is AMA Houston’s premier event honoring Houston’s best marketing work. We share this honor with the Lee College who allowed us the creative freedom to produce this award-winning piece. We are also proud to announce that we are starting work on the Fall edition of the “NEXT” magazine.
