Smoke Signals

Do you need a way to update your company’s website?

Have you ever found yourself in need of updating your company’s website content? Do you have to call your web designer and pay an hourly fee to make changes? If you answered “yes” to these questions, this may be the article you have been looking for.

More and more businesses are requesting the option to conveniently update their website content themselves. This can be a pain-free solution if your website is set up (properly) with a content management system (CMS). This allows you (business owner, marketing professional, salesperson, executive assistant) the flexibility to make content updates easily and quickly. There are plenty of CMS platforms to choose from, so what is the right platform for your business or organization?

Lately, there has been a lot of buzz around WordPress websites. So what’s the big deal? While you may know that WordPress is commonly used for web blogs, it can also be used for managing content on business and community websites. WordPress is available in two different forms, and while we favor one over the other, it is important for you to know the key differences.

What’s the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org?

WordPress.com is a shared online community where you can set up your own space to make blog updates. This option is limiting in two ways: you cannot use this blog on your own company’s web host and you cannot custom tailor the look-and-feel of the interface.

The other option, which we normally work with, is the standalone WordPress system found on WordPress.org. This option allows you to use your own web host provider along with your company’s (or organization’s) domain name. This powerful system combined with our web design expertise allows us to create high quality, professional websites for our clients.

In the past, we have utilized WordPress to power many of our clients’ websites. The recent launch of MediTech Strategic Consultants’ new website is one of our latest success stories.

A bit about the design and development process:

We completed MediTech’s brochure design and wanted their new website to reflect this uniquely designed printed piece. This presented a programming challenge because of the strong diagonal graphic elements in the brochure layout.  We were finally able to successfully incorporate this look into the new web design layout. Everything down to the navigation bar’s intricate programming truly reflects the company’s brand image:

“BIG thank you for your work on the new Meditech website! Now that our new website is up and running, I would like to use the opportunity to thank each and every one of you for the hard work you put into this project. The end result is absolutely AMAZING and we are receiving very positive feedback from various channels. So again thank you for the great job done!!! Special thank you to our colleagues at our US office and our friends at Tribe Design!”

Kind regards,

Meditech’s need for frequent content updates makes WordPress a great fit for maintaining their website. They are enjoying WordPress’s extremely user-friendly environment. Whether you are a skilled or novice user, WordPress’ administrator panel allows quick and easy updates without the need for programming.

The words ‘flexibility’ and ‘high-quality’ resonates with our design processes. At Tribe Design, we strive to create custom graphics for our clients, considering every aspect of their company’s brand image. We do not use any ready-made templates but instead build the entire viewing experience from scratch.
